Great Gatsby Reading Circle

By George Carvalho

This year's Gatsby Summer Afternoon on Sunday, September 13, 2009 will feature an action packed 45 minute discussion of F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel, The Great Gatsby, at 2:30 pm. Attendees will be invited to read passages from both the book, and Francis Ford Coppola’s script from the 1974 Hollywood film with Robert Redford and Mia Farrow. Don’t miss this opportunity to listen to memorable scenes from this legendary story of love, longing and loss set in a society teetering on the edge. So be sure to dust off your copy of the novel and bring it with you.

Everything from “Ain’t We Got Fun?” to the “Ziegfeld Follies”

By George Carvalho

“The Great Gatsby does not proclaim the nobility of the human spirit; it is not politically correct; it does not reveal how to solve the problems of life; it delivers no fashionable or comforting messages. It is just a masterpiece.” ~ Mathew J. Bruccoli
