Members Meet in a
Deco-Vintage Cafe

The ADSC held its annual Membership Meeting Sunday January 24, 1999, at Shroeder's Cafe, in downtown San Francisco. Fifty-eight members, prospective members, and guests enjoyed Schroeder's vintage ambiance, food and beer.

The walls at Schroeder's are lined with murals, painted in the 1930s and restored in the '90s, depicting Middle-European life in the early years of the 20th Century.

Both the cafe and the murals' conservator, David Boysel, received preservation awards at the ADSC's Art Deco Preservation Ball in 1998. The story of the murals and their restoration appears in the Autumn 1998 issue of our magazine, The Sophisticate.
